The Shaq Al-Thuban industrial area is one of the largest marble and granite manufacturing and processing centers in Egypt, with a large number of factories and workshops working in sawing, cutting, polishing, shaping and processing.

According to data from the Industrial Development Authority, 1,372 factories and workshops were surveyed and inspected in the area, including 534 factories and 838 workshops, with a production capacity of nearly 120 million square meters per year.

The area has seen official moves to develop its industrial infrastructure, regularize the status of facilities and raise factory efficiency, supporting the integration of industrial activities into the formal system and access to services and technical support.

On February 25, 2026, the Minister of Industry and the Governor of Cairo inspected five factories specializing in marble and granite products in the Shaq Al-Thuban area, as well as the Mining Industries and Marble Technology Center, as part of following up on production and supporting the area's development.

The Mining Industries and Marble Technology Center includes departments for research and development and for evaluating quarries, mines, mining industries, marble and granite, as well as specialized laboratories.

Modern technology supports marble and granite factories in Egypt

Increasingly, marble and granite factories in Egypt are moving to modernize production lines and use modern technology to raise productivity and improve the quality of the final product.

Among the most prominent technologies and equipment used in some marble and granite factories in Egypt:

  • Modern sawing machines to improve the precision of block cutting.
  • Automated grinding and polishing lines.
  • CNC machines for precise designs.
  • Waterjet technology for cutting and geometric shaping.
  • Modern equipment for treating and reinforcing slabs.
  • Systems for managing and monitoring production operations.
  • Advanced lines for inspection, packing and export preparation
  • These technologies help improve the efficiency of raw material use, reduce waste and achieve more precise specifications, as well as increase factories' ability to produce products that meet the requirements of local and international markets.
